- List three social media channels you would like to analyze in Week 02.
Discussion: What Is & Isn't Social Media
As a designer of social media, it is important to differentiate what is and isn't social media. Review the definition of social media provided in Reading 01, which is this: "Social media is a place where users can connect, interact, create, and share content."
Go to your class FACEBOOK GROUP, find the What is & Isn't Social Media post and make a comment with the following:
- Use the four criteria for evaluating a site's social media functionality.
- Evaluate twelve websites in total.
- Identify 3–5 sites that are social media sites
- Identify 3–5 sites with little or no social media functionality
- Identify 3–5 sites that aren't social media.
- Categorize your list: Social, Some social functionality, and Not social.
- Build your table in the software of your choice like Microsoft Word, Google Drive, or an Adobe program, take a screenshot of it and upload the image. For example:
Site | Connect | Interact | Create | Share | Category |
something.com | x | x | x | - | Some Social Functionality |
another.org | x | x | x | x | Social |
onemore.net | - | - | - | - | Not Social |
You will be posting and JPG of your own table to the corresponding post within our Facebook group.
